Portfolio implementation
First of all I decided to create a page for each of my sub units, this would make it easy to find what the user is looking for, below shows the different pages.
I then created basic design which was the same for each of the pages, other than the homepage which was made differently, I thought it was important to be consistent throughout.
I decided to use the basic functionality of hotglue and didn't go into the more technical coding as I wasn't confident in creating something presentable using code, So i stuck to using text boxes and images throughout.

My original idea was to have to content that I had created down the left hand column and any resources used on the right column. At first I thought this was a good idea but as time passed and as the content grew I noticed that I wasn't using many resources, this was a problem because it left the right hand side of the page practically empty. This mistake was found very late on into the semester and I thought i'd work on adding the content to the pages rather than the layout, but if I had time I could go back and review the pages and then try to make alterations so there weren't large areas of the page unfilled.
To try and cover up this issue I decided to include a review process section. This was something that I thought was extremely important because I could reflect on all of the things that I had done whether they were good ideas or bad ideas. It would also give anyone viewing the page some of my thoughts on how I went about my work and be able to see that not everything went as smoothly as I wanted. They could also see the ways in which I tried to resolve certain issues that I came across. This filled out part of the right hand side but there was still a lot of empty space on the pages which Included more content.
In this page I will explain about why I implemented things into my portfolio the way I did. Provided will be photos and screenshots of the things that I thought were needed to be included, some things that I didn't think went to plan and some sort of solution to the problems that I came across. Finally I will talk about what I would do if I had the opportunity to work on a portfolio of this sort again.

What went well?

I feel that once I had thought about the design of the site and had a discussion with a colleague about designs, I had some sort of idea of what I wanted to do and how I wanted it to look. I feel that speaking to other people about my work enables me to look at other views and this helped me a lot because I figured out how to resolve the messy navigation bar issue by listening to other peoples opinions.
What didn't go so well?

If I had created wireframes at the start and received feedback then I wouldn't have spent soo long thinking about how to change the navigation bar, although there was a simple solution. I could have also thought about the resources I would have used throughout the project and left adequate space and also without leaving large amounts of whitespace on the page, I feel this was a major flaw in the design of my website.
Final thoughts and improvements

I think that the site itself could have looked better If I created it in a different way. Such as creating it in Illustrator and importing each of the elements, although I wasn't aware of how to do this when we originally created the portfolio. If I was to create it again, I'd create wireframes and ask for feedback, take their comments under consideration and see where I could improve and then I'd go on to create the final piece knowing exactly how I wanted it to be. I felt that the site looked presentable enough to display my work and didn't think it was necessary to change it so late on as I could have ended up not submitting it due to it being incomplete, I'd rather look back on this current portfolio and reflect on the things that went well and the things that went not so well, this way I can take these things into consideration the next time I have to build something like this.
